Have you ever heard of a town in Galilee called Nazareth? That was My hometown; the town where I grew up in while I was here on the earth around 2000 years ago. Having spent much of My years there, (as was the custom of the day) I had come to be known as ‘Jesus of Nazareth’.
But, I hadn’t always been in Nazareth… In fact, I was born in Bethlehem. And I had lived in Egypt too.
“Egypt?”, some of you might be wondering. Yes, when I was young, I’ve lived in Egypt before. Let Me tell you the story of how that came to be…
When I was just a few years old, there was this group of people who saw My star and had gone to Jerusalem to look for Me. They were a group of people from the East who were eager to find The King. They were, the ‘magi’ (‘wise men’).
From Jerusalem, as they followed My star, they finally reached their destination. How exceedingly joyful they were! 🙂 They had reached this particular place, this specific house…
I still remember the wise men as they came into our house that day; they had found The King they were looking for! They presented their treasures and gifts to Me; gold, frankincense and myrrh… What a pleasant surprise I reckon that was for My parents. 🙂 Not long after, the wise men departed back to their own country (this time, not passing through Jerusalem).
After the wise men had left, an angel appeared to My father (that was, My earthly father, Joseph) in a dream. In the dream, the angel said, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
And off we went on our journey to Egypt. It was not until a while later that we moved back to Israel. As a dream had triggered our move to Egypt, so also was our move back to Israel triggered by another dream. What meaningful dreams My father had had…
And that, My beloved, is the story of how I came to have lived in Egypt… 🙂
