Easter Special 06 - My Vantage Point.

The cross was now in the ground. I’ve just told My Father, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Earlier, Roman soldiers had given Me wine mingled with myrrh (to dull My senses) but I did not take it. As I now looked downwards, I could see the Roman soldiers casting lots for my seamless garment. Mmm, do you think they had wanted it in one piece in order to keep it as a souvenir? Or perhaps they would like to sell it off later?

I looked around; there was quite a bit of activities going on around Me… The crowd was gathering, looking on at what was happening here at Calvary. Passers-by were blaspheming Me. Even the chief priests and scribes were there too, mocking Me. They were certainly not happy about the sign that hung above Me. It read “THIS IS JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” Lots of people were getting in and out of Jerusalem, as they went about their daily travels along this busy road. I reckon they would be able to understand the inscription, seeing that it was written in three languages; Hebrew, Greek and Latin.

Then I heard someone said, ”If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” Ah, it was the criminal that was beside Me. He was reviling Me even at his very last moment here on earth. But not the other criminal that was on My other side. He rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” (Seeing that both of them had mocked Me earlier, it was to this criminal’s credit that he repented and said this.) He then proceeded to say to Me, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” I replied, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.

I had another look around from My vantage point. There was My mother, I could see her. I will be leaving her soon… Well, at least physically. And I could see My disciple John too.  I said to My mother, “Woman, behold your son.” And to John, “Behold, your mother.

Three hours had passed since I was crucified. It was now 12 noon. One would think that it was the time of the day the sun would be shining its brightest? Yes, normally it would be. But not on this day. The brightness of day was now gone, and from this hour, darkness had come over the whole land.

After three hours of darkness, I cried loudly to My Father, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

Knowing that all things were now finished, and so that the scripture might be accomplished, I said, “I thirst.” As they put a sponge full of vinegar upon the hyssop and brought it to My mouth, I received it.

I then cried out with a loud voice, “It is finished.” and “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” Having said this, I bowed My head and breathed My last…

That is how much I love you so.
