Healing Special 03 - The Marvel Story, Centurion.

I was now at the home town of some of My disciples. I reckoned Peter, James, John and a few others must be feeling at home, being back in Capernaum again…

A group of Jewish elders had just approached Me and pleaded with Me to go and heal a Roman centurion’s servant. They were begging Me earnestly, saying that the centurion for whom I should do this for was deserving, “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”

I went with them. As we were approaching the centurion’s house, I could see a few people coming towards us, who turned out to be the centurion’s friends.  As they reached us, they (being the direct representatives on behalf of the centurion) said to Me, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go’, and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Whoa, how about that for faith?! You know, I don’t marvel a lot, as My disciples can attest to, but that was one of those rare moments that I marvelled. I turned around and said to the crowd that had followed Me, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from the east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Then I said to the centurion’s friends, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.”

They returned to the centurion’s house… and found that the servant was healed that same hour. 🙂
